"After the detection of highly pathogenic avian influenza A(H5N1) clade 2.3.4.4b in migratory birds in Western Australia, the national science agency CSIRO has made the first complete genome sequence publicly available on GISAID (EPI_ISL_20479340).  This rapid sharing underscores Australia’s commitment to providing timely data access to laboratories, veterinary authorities and public health agencies worldwide to compare emerging viruses in near real time, strengthen surveillance, identify changes of potential concern and inform risk assessment and response."

Previously, in the UK, a new recombinant (Ib+IIb) mpox was identified in a specimen sample collected from a traveller returning from Asia.  The phylodynamics of Clade Ib can also be monitored on GISAID’s up-to-date phylogenetic trees."
