"The Pakistan Government is committed to improving the health of its population by providing universal access to affordable and quality essential health services. Nearly 53% of the total health expenditure in Pakistan comes from out-of-pocket payments, and every year, an estimated 350,000 households fall into poverty because of the high costs of accessing health care. In 2020, Pakistan became the first country in the world to invest in developing a national Essential Package of Health Services (EPHS) based on the DCP3 evidence and model Universal Health Coverage packages. The EPHS was endorsed at the highest level by the Inter-Ministerial Health and Population Council and will be implemented in a phased approach within the next five years. It is estimated to avert an additional 46.7 million DALYs, and reduce stunting by 10%, under-five mortality by 30%, neonatal mortality by 33%, and maternal mortality by 35%."

"On 25-27 April 2022, the DCP3 team conducted an applied training on Health Interventions and Prioritisation Tool (HIPtool) in Buchanan, Liberia. The three-day workshop was attended by 12 senior technical personnel from the Ministry of Health of Liberia and partner organisations. The training aimed to familiarise participants with the HIPTool, and demonstrate what local data can be collected to run HIPtool analyses and what questions HIPtool can answer at a national level to inform priority setting."
