So here goes, some thinking about “AI”, or more precisely, the generative deep neural networks that have been making the news. I am gonna call it “AI” even though it makes me cringe. I recently published a book on Lisp which necessarily touched on AI, or Good Old Fashioned AI (GOFAI) as it is called these days, and large language models and friends form just a subset of this field. It’s like saying “Texas” if you mean the “USA”. But here we are, the name of the whole has been assumed by the part and I don’t think my writing would be clearer if I refused to budge."

"At work, we’re experimenting with Claude Code, and I must say, it’s quite impressive. Especially in Elixir, it navigates our code repository surefootedly.
